SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — The youngest of the children learned a big lesson about giving thanks fervently.
Southampton Elementary School hosted their annual second grade Thanksgiving gathering on November 21st. The event focused on family and community, with students performing songs, sharing a Thanksgiving poem and enjoying some tasty treats with their families, the district said.
During the event, representatives from the Shinnecock Indian Nation spoke about their traditions related to giving thanks, performed traditional dance and song with the students, and gave a blessing.
