WESTHAMPTON, N.Y. — An Eastport woman was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child under 16 in her vehicle Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to Southampton Police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:18 p.m. came a 911 call about an “erratic driver” in the area of South Road in Westhampton, police said.
Police arrived and found the driver, Emily Towle, 40, of Eastport, had gone off the road and was now on the side of the road, authorities said. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment and the child was released to a family member, police said.
Towle was arrested and charged with felony DWI under Leandra's Law, police said.
He was taken to Hamptons Bays police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment, police said.
