HAMPTON BAY, N.Y. — An 89-year-old woman died Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Hampton Bays, police said.
According to Southampton Police, the crash happened at 10:52 a.m. Margaret Lucey, of Hampton Bays, was crossing westbound Ponquogue Avenue when a vehicle turning left from Good Ground Road onto Ponquogue Avenue struck her, police said.
The driver, Jon Stanton of Hampton Bays, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No charges have been filed, police said.
Lucey was taken by Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Southampton police officers and detectives, the Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Hampton Bays Fire Department and Southampton Town firefighters and constables responded to the scene, police said.
