HOLLYWOOD, CA — Netflix is kicking off the new year with a slew of highly anticipated brand new offerings that are sure to dazzle everyone this January 2024.
Streaming fans, buckle up! It's going to be a bumpy ride when the blockbuster “Lift” finally hits the Netflix skies on January 12. The action-comedy film stars Kevin Hart as Cyrus Whitaker, a professional thief recruited by Interpol agent Abby Gladwell (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) to pull off the heist of the century: He steals $500 million in gold from an airliner at 40,000 feet . His heist crew includes wizard Denton (Vincent D'Onofrio), helmsman Camila (Úrsula Corberó), sage Magnus (Billy Magnussen) and digital artist N8 (Jacob Batalon). Can they all survive the turbulence?
What if your plane had crashed deep in the Andes mountains, where temperatures could reach 40 degrees below zero? And what if the rescue team didn't locate you 72 days later? “Society of the Snow” also takes to the Netflix skies in January. Based on real-life events, the Spanish-language survival drama — which is a major contender in the 2024 Oscar race for best international feature film — tells the unlikely story of the 16 passengers who survived the plane crash in the Andes of Uruguay in 1972. Be warned: What really happened during those 72 days is not for the faint of heart.
Among the much-anticipated original series debuting on screens in January is “The Brothers Sun,” an action-packed drama series starring Michelle Yeoh as the evil matriarch of the Mama Sun family, as well as “Griselda,” a police -drama series with female protagonist. Sofia Vergara as the infamous Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco.
Netflix will also host many popular movie collections, including “John Wick,” “Mama Mia,” “Meet the Fockers,” and “Jurassic Park.”
