HOLLYWOOD, CA — Celebrate the Yuletide season in Netflixland with a host of highly anticipated new releases. So get ready to curl up on the couch and enjoy the streaming platform's latest offerings — from Christmas specials to special NFL games, and from popular movie gems to festival favorites that are already creating buzz for the 2025 Oscars.
December offers
Ho! Ho! Ho! This December, Netflix welcomes the arrival of a series of holiday specials, including “A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter,” an animated film called “That Christmas,” a “biblical coming-of-age epic” called “Mary,” and the holiday version of “The Great British Baking Show.”
Other Offers
A Maria Callas biopic, “Maria,” debuts on streaming December 11, starring Angelina Jolie as the hapless opera singer. The film, which was released in select theaters on Wednesday, chronicles the famous soprano's final days in 1970s Paris as she struggles to make a comeback in her glittering career. Jolie, who received an eight-minute standing ovation at this year's Venice Film Festival, deserves an Oscar nomination.
Football fans, you are in for a special treat! The streaming platform is set to broadcast its first live NFL games on Christmas Day. Be sure to catch the Kansas City Chiefs as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers with Beyonce's halftime performance. Later in the day, the Baltimore Ravens will also take on the Houston Texans.
Other highlights this month include “Squid Game” Season 2, “No Good Deed,” “Aaron Rodgers: Enigma,” “Churchill at War” and Jamie Foxx's “What Had Happened Was….”
Popular favorites are also coming to the streaming platform this month, including “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Burlesque” and “Midway.”
