SOUTHOLD, NY – The Southold Yacht Club announced today that the 2024 Junior Summer Sailing Program is open for registration. Founded in 1938, the mission of the Southold Yacht Club is to make sailing accessible on the North Fork. Children learn the charm of sailing and for those interested, racing skills are cultivated to a high degree. Training is provided for eight weeks from July 1st to August 23rd. SYC offers a wide variety of sailing lessons taught by experienced instructors for children aged 5 to 18 years. Course options include sailing instruction for various levels in Optimist, Sunfish, C420 and Laser fleets as well as an introductory First Mates land program. Club boat rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
SYC Commodore Greg Young commented: “The Junior Sailing Program is the heart of our club, helping young sailors learn to sail in a variety of boats and at a variety of levels. sportsmanship and safety on the water.”
Young sailors also enjoy activities such as volleyball, game nights, dances, an annual color run and opportunities to participate in regattas throughout the East End, including the SYC Carol Smith Regatta on July 25-26.

The Southold Yacht Club is again offering sailing scholarships to boys and girls in Southold Town between the ages of seven and fifteen.
Membership includes new members as well as families who have sailed at Southold Yacht Club for generations. Young continued, “Our beautiful setting on the sandy shores of Southold Bay is the perfect location to sail and join the community in summer activities.”
