EAST HAMPTON, NY — The iconic Maidstone Hotel in East Hampton will reopen this season under the new vision of John Meadow and his team from LDV Hospitality.
The group aims to “bring a touch of Italian luxury to the area with its signature culinary excellence,” it said in a statement. The more than 150-year-old boutique hotel, known for its whitewashed shingles and green awnings, will open its doors in June.
According to Long Island Business News, the property changed hands in April 2023. Previous owners Jenny and Jonathan Baker first purchased the hotel in 2008.
Owned by LDV Hospitality, in partnership with ISMD's Irwin Simon and Mayank Dwivedi, The Maidstone Hotel will present “a completely renewed experience, with an outstanding food and beverage programme,” it said in a statement.
Created by Chef Jorge Espinoza, famed for his stint at Scarpetta, the menu will harken back to key moments of the “Italian Summer” in the Hamptons, with dishes inspired by the seaside delights of Italy.
Guests can also enjoy an array of craft cocktails and wines, “curated to take off every moment,” including an aperitivo hour offered daily from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the garden, said the new team.

Under the new leadership, designer Poonam Khanna of The Unionworks will lead a cosmetic makeover of the entire hotel that aims to pay homage to the historic building and its iconic history.

Luxurious touches such as Frette Linens, Santa Maria Novella amenities, and small details in the upholstery and furnishings add subtle variations to each room that sets this boutique hotel apart.” the new. said the group.

The hotel lobby will also be renovated and include board games and “transportation elements.” Giuliva Heritage x YOLO Journal x WM Brown curated selections will also be offered at retail.
Located at 207 Main Street in East Hampton, the property was built just after the Civil War by the Osborne family and was originally used as a tannery and shelter. In 2008, the property was purchased by Jenny Ljungberg, who reopened the hotel with Scandinavian influences.
