SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The popular Tate's Bake Shop has launched a new line of plant-based vegan cookies.
Vegan chocolate chip and vegan maple vanilla flavors join Tate's traditional favorites as well as gluten-free options.
“As a brand committed to delighting consumers with delicious new treats, we're very excited to launch a vegan range of our cookies,” says Lauren Sella, Tate's Bake Shop Chief Marketing Officer. “Tate's remains committed to providing uncompromising baking quality with all products while meeting the evolving preferences of our customers. After launching gluten-free cookies more than a decade ago, we look forward to introducing our vegan cookies and continuing to grow with our customers' changing lifestyles.”
Each cookie is certified vegan by Vegan.org and certified Kosher Pareve by the Orthodox Union, Tate's said.
Tate's Bake Shop was born in Southampton when 11-year-old Kathleen King started baking cookies to sell at her parents' farm stand.
In 1980, King turned her passion for baking into a career and opened her first bakery called Kathleen's Bake Shop. Later he started Tate's, which became extremely successful. Even chef and talk show host Rachel Ray named her chocolate chip cookie the “Best Cookie in America.”
“It's always been my goal to make the best cookie in America,” said King of Ray's award.
Tate's cookies are now sold both nationally and locally. In 2018, Tate's Bake Shop was acquired by Mondelēz International for $500 million.
Whole Foods Market was the first retailer nationwide to carry the cookies, starting Dec. 1. The cookies will also be available here, on Amazon, in select local grocers — and at Tate's Bake Shop in Southampton.
