SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — A beloved tradition returned this month as, after a pandemic hiatus, students at Southampton Middle School gathered their best skills and participated in a spelling bee.
Students in grades 5 through 8 competed individually in their classes, with the top-scoring students moving on to a second, school-wide competition. First place went to fifth grader Brooklyn DeVito, who will now advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
