SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — A Southampton High School senior made her hometown proud.
Shea Rodriguez has been recognized by the National College Hispanic Recognition Program as a National Hispanic Scholar, the Southampton Association Free School District said.
She was honored after scoring in the top 2.5 percent of all PSAT/NMSQT tests during her junior year and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, the district said.
In addition to her academic success, Rodriguez is also involved in her school's theater program and extracurricular theater programs. has earned multiple Teeny Award nominations.
Shea also believes in giving back: She delivers the morning announcements at her school, helps with the Special Olympics and volunteers with Heart of the Hamptons, the Southampton Youth Task Force and Act Two. Earlier this year, she was named to the Suffolk County Music Educators Association All-County Vocal Jazz Ensemble, the district said.
