SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Residents will head to the polls Tuesday to weigh in on the Southampton Union Free School District's proposed 2024 to 2025 budget.
The proposed budget of 79,937,201 reflects a 3.95% spending increase and a 3.54% tax levy increase, within the district's tax cap.
Voters will also vote on a proposal to use reserve funds for repairs and renovations, as well as the purchase of two new buses. HVAC and flooring repairs are projected to cost $2.7 million and buses, $350,000, with $400,000 also proposed for smart boards and other electronics.
Three Board of Education candidates are vying for two open seats, including incumbents James McKenna, Robert Zachary Epley and Ruth B. White-Dunn.
Voting takes place from 10am to 9pm at Southampton Intermediate School.
