SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The public is invited to join Southampton's City Planning department this week for a presentation on the progress of developing the Climate Action Plan.
On Wednesday, March 15 at 4 p.m. there will be a Zoom meeting for the CAP
“Community support and feedback is an important part of the planning process, ensuring that the CAP's goals and objectives reflect community interests and support,” city officials added.
Southampton Town is part of the Climate Smart Community program, an initiative of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to combat climate change.
Stronger storms, warmer summers, coastal flooding and rising water temperatures that affect marine life and the quality of life in general are all more common, city officials said. The CAP will offer a roadmap of recommendations and actions to reduce municipal and community greenhouse gas emissions and achieve the city's 2040 goal of carbon neutrality, they added.
“Community input is vital, so please join us,” city officials urged.
