SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — A Southampton High School counselor was recently honored for her dedication to students.
Amy Prince recently received the East End Counselor Association's Barbara Ackerman Counselor of the Year Award, the Southampton Association Free School District said.
Prince, who has worked at Southampton High School since 2003, won recognition for her commitment to her students and her diligence in coordinating counseling and resource programs for students and their families, the district said.
“Amy is known to be a fierce advocate for her students and will stop at nothing to find a program or postsecondary plan that fits her students' goals,” said Martha Tuthill, director of high school counseling. “We are proud of her recognition by this professional organization.”
Ackerman, who lives in Southold, is a retired school counselor who was honored herself on June 7, being named President Emeritus of the East End Counselors Association, according to the organization. He has served the organization as a past president and board advisor for more than 44 years and has also served in a leadership role in the Rotary Club for more than 35 years.
