RIVERSIDE, N.Y. — Investigations are underway for a woman who attacked a woman by hitting her in the head with a hammer in October, police said.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Southampton Town police detectives are asking for the public's help in locating the woman, who also pushed her child, authorities said.
Ligia Lopez Menendez, 37, went to the residence of a known woman in Riverside, pushed the woman's child and hit the woman in the head with the hammer on Oct. 30, police said.
The woman who was hit had an order of protection against Lopez Menendez, police said. She was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening treatment and her child was not injured, police said.
Lopez Menendez is Hispanic, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 160 pounds, with long brown hair, police said. He has ties to Flanders, Riverside and Hampton Bays, police said.
