SAG HARBOR, NY — A beloved veterinary clinic worker was seriously injured in an accident recently and needs help during the long recovery process.
A GoFundMe page, “Dani Medical Fund,” was created by Mariah Moskowitz and Ever Perez for Dani Perez.
“Our beloved Danny of the Sag Harbor Veterinary Clinic community was in a terrible car accident on Sunday, February 19,” Moscovici said. “She was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she underwent several surgeries to repair her broken pelvis, broken hip and a rod in her knee.”
He was released from the hospital last week, Moskowitz said. But the road ahead is still long.
“He's been the face of the clinic for eight years and could use the help of our tight-knit community now,” he said. “Anything you can do to help her and her family prepare for the effects of this would be greatly appreciated by all of us who care and love her.”
The fact that Perez can't walk right now, said friend April Gornik, “is a nightmare. He thinks he's going to be recovering for a couple of months before he can go back to work. It's just awful,” she said.
She added: “Dani is a wonderful, really compassionate and stable person. If you can, please help her. My poor Dani! Thank God she's alive.”
Speaking with Patch, Perez expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love. “It was difficult, I couldn't walk at all – and I totaled my car in the accident, so it was difficult as well.”
But, he added, the community is marking its darkest hours. “I've been local for 35 years – and it's just amazing how everyone comes together when help is needed.”
