REMSENBURG, N.Y. — A Remsenburg man found a burglar in his basement Friday, police said.
According to Southampton Police, the incident occurred at 2:14 p.m. Authorities received a 911 call about the burglary in progress.
Officers responded and spoke with the homeowner, who reported arriving at the home and seeing a man at the bottom of the basement stairs, police said. When confronted and asked why he was there, the man said he was going to call his boss, police said.

He left the residence and fled in a vehicle, according to police.
Detectives investigated and the man was later located by the Southampton Police Department's Community Response Unit, police said.

Louis Zangla, 36, of Coram, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, a felony. and criminal possession of burglary tools, a misdemeanor, police said.
Police identified and he was remanded in custody overnight to appear at Southampton Town Court.
