NORTH FORK, N.Y. — Parker is a sweet pup who saw all his children go home — and yet, he was back alone at the shelter for the first few months of his life.
Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations for The North Fork Animal Welfare League, said Parker is a Lab mix, just over a year old, a “sweet young guy. He came in as a puppy with his kids and was all adopted quickly.” .
But sadly, she added: “Poor Parker returned to the shelter in November 2023. His adopters just couldn't handle a puppy.”
And so, Parker sat waiting and hoping for months, Stroup said.
“He's sweet as can be – very good with other dogs,” she said.
Parker, he said, tested well with cats. “He loves everyone. He's a nice, medium-sized guy weighing about 40kg. Now he walks well on a leash and is housetrained. He doesn't deserve to be raised in a kennel,” she said. “We feel so bad that he was with us for so long at such a young age.”
Parker is located at the League's Aquebogue location at 324 Church Lane. To meet him or for more information, call 631-765-1811.
