BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic's new Mobile Health Center is officially on its way.
According to Planned Parenthood, the Mobile Health Center will offer “high-quality sexual and reproductive health services directly to those who need them.”
With plans to travel and provide services in Suffolk County, the Mobile Health Center's first appearances are in partnership with local community organizations based in the Hamptons.
On Monday, the mobile unit will stop on Monday, May 6 at the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center, located at 551 Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The event is in partnership with the OLA of Eastern Long Island. Any patient needing services is welcome, no appointments needed.
“For more than 90 years, PPHP has provided high-quality, compassionate sexual and reproductive health care services at five brick-and-mortar locations in Suffolk County. Through the Mobile Health Center, PPHP will provide vital health care to more patients, especially members of the community for whom travel is a barrier to accessing care,” said Planned Parenthood.
The Mobile Health Center has two exam rooms and will offer a wide range of sexual and reproductive health care services, including birth control, emergency contraception, STD testing and treatment, gender confirmation care, annual wellness exams , PrEP and PEP for HIV prevention. HIV testing and initial treatment, medical abortion and more.
No appointment is needed to receive services. PPHP will also have a Mobile Health Center dedicated to its northern regions.
“Everyone deserves access to sexual and reproductive health care,” said Vincent Russell, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone who needs our services can receive them, regardless of their ability to pay or travel. The Mobile Health Center program is an important step in expanding our services to achieve that mission .”
PPHP has partnered with several local community organizations to offer health care services directly to their members.
On Thursday, April 25, the Mobile Health Center opened its doors to Hamptons Community Outreach members for the first time.
The Mobile Health Center will also partner with OLA of Eastern Long Island, which serves immigrants and US-born Latinos who work and/or live throughout the East End. Costs for patients referred by any organization will be covered by a donation from the Donovan family.
“We are so grateful to partner with Planned Parenthood and for the Donovan family's incredibly generous support to connect vital reproductive health services to our underserved clients in the East End community,” said Marit Molin, executive director of Hamptons Community Outreach. “This empowers them not only to be healthy, but to make important and informed decisions about their well-being.”
