Anna Sherwood, a junior at Pierson High School, was recently named one of Long Island's field hockey players to watch by Newsday.
“It was awesome to see that I was named along with 25 other players on Long Island,” said Sherwood, who was pleasantly surprised by the honor. “I would not have received this honor without the support of all my teammates.”
Eric Bramoff, athletic director, said he was happy to see Sherwood's name among some of the best players on Long Island.
“It couldn't have happened to a better girl and dedicated student-athlete,” she said, scoring over a 90 percent GPA.
Sherwood, who has been playing field hockey since second grade, said she was inspired to take up the sport by her mother, who also played in high school.
In addition to playing on the Pierson High School varsity field hockey team, he also plays for East End Field Hockey and the varsity basketball team.
Sherwood aspires to play field hockey at the college level.
Congratulations Anna!
