SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — A pedestrian struck by a vehicle on County Road 39 Saturday night has died, police said.
According to Southampton Police, the incident took place at 6:14 p.m. in the westbound lane of County Road 39.
Southampton police officers and New York State Police responded to the scene. Officers performed CPR on the pedestrian, who was taken by Southampton Ambulance to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The pedestrian's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
According to Chris Brenner, public information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, County Road 39 was closed after the crash from Greenfield Road to St. Andrews Road West.

At this time, no foul play is suspected, police said.
