Lucille Marfing, of Southampton, died on August 14, 2015 at Southampton Hospital. It was 89.
Marfing was born in Flushing, New York on June 25, 1926 to Edward and Louise Moore.
She attended Bayside High School and graduated from Flushing Hospital Medical Center in 1945 as a registered nurse.
She moved to Southampton in 1954 and worked at Southampton Hospital as head nurse in the maternity ward for 38 years.
After her retirement in 1993 she spent every day at Coopers Beach in Southampton Village with her many friends always sitting to the left of the lifeguard stand.
Marfing is survived by her daughter, Colleen D'Italia and her husband Anthony, her daughter, Kathleen Lanahan and her husband Peter Lang, two sons, Patrick Lanahan and John Marfing. her sister Colleen Frankenbach; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two nieces and one nephew.
She was predeceased by her son Edward Lanahan.
The family received friends Monday, Aug. 17, at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, where a funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 18, Rev. Stephen McWhorter officiating.
Interment followed at Southampton Cemetery.
