Eugene “Gene” T. Raffel, of Southampton, died at Stony Brook University Hospital on Wednesday, April 1. He was 76 years old.
Raffel was born on 15 May 1938 in Southampton to Joseph and Jennie Raffel.
He graduated from Southampton High School, where he was a member of the football and golf teams.
He married his wife, Camille, on 24 April 1957 and the couple lived in Southampton where they raised 5 children.
Raffel was a lifelong cabinet maker and owned and operated ET Raffel Cabinets in Southampton for over 35 years where he developed a clientele that appreciated his exceptional craftsmanship and reliability.
He was also an active member of the North Sea Volunteer Fire Service for 41 years and a former Fire Captain.
In his spare time, he was a member of the Southampton Golf Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He was also a member of Barefoot Bay Golf Club in Florida.
In addition to his wife, Raffel is survived by his children, Terri Raffel, Debbie Acquino and husband Chris, Jeanette Grecco and husband Frank, Gene Raffel and wife Laverne and Richard Raffel and wife Stephanie along with 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brother Joseph Raffel II, and three sisters; Bertha Stachecki, Dorothy Stachecki and Patricia Sherry.
Predeceased by his brother Theodore Raffel and sister Pamela Carabine.
