EAST HAMPTON, NY — While Friday morning's 4.8-magnitude earthquake in New Jersey left residents across the East End and beyond reeling, literally — in East Hampton Town, there were no reports for injury or damage.
According to East Hampton city officials, as soon as the earthquake was felt, the East Hampton Police Department, Highways and Buildings and Grounds Division and emergency preparedness teams were immediately mobilized to assess any damage or injuries in the community.
“All departments have confirmed that there is no damage or injury in East Hampton Town as a result of this
an incident has been reported,” officials said. “East Hampton Township Police and Township staff continue to monitor the situation and are in close contact with Suffolk County agencies. We will keep you informed of any further developments.”
