SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The dedicated members of the Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance Company recently welcomed a new ambulance.
Led by Chief Kyle McGuiness, 1st Assistant Chief Chris Epley and 2nd Assistant Chief Colby Gill, SVVA is comprised of a volunteer staff of 78 full-time and support volunteers, consisting of paramedics, EMTs, drivers and assistants, SVVA said.
“SVVA has achieved this by focusing on member recruitment, top-notch training and member retention efforts,” said SVVA. In addition, SVVA has a paid paramedic staff that always staffs a first responder life support vehicle.
SVVA operates three advance life support ambulances.
The new ambulance cost $374,759, with the American Rescue Plan Act covering $339,178.46 of the cost and Southampton Village, $35,580.54.
“We are very excited this year as the delivery of a brand new ambulance has arrived to replace one of our older ambulances that has been in use since 2004,” SVVA said.
