SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The Southampton School District Board of Education has appointed Dr. Nick Epley as assistant principal of Southampton Secondary Education.
“We are excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Epley,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fatima Morrell. “With a decade of teaching and coaching experience in the Southampton School District, we are confident that Dr. Epley is the perfect fit for this position. He has been an integral part of our team and his dedication to our students is inspiring.”
Dr. Epley joined the Southampton School District in 2014 as an elementary school teacher, the district said. During his tenure, he has served as assistant director of the middle school summer program and club advisor for the elementary school's community service club and the district's Special Olympics and Unified Sports.
In addition, he has coached the basketball, baseball, volleyball and field hockey teams. He is a 2022 Suffolk County Coaches Frank Mackwich Award winner, the district said.
Before joining the district, Dr. Epley taught at a Title 1 elementary school in North Carolina for three years and at Our Lady of the Hamptons Catholic School District. As a teacher, he has taught every grade from K through 8th.
Outside of teaching, he has served as director of Camp Flying Point in Southampton, president and board member of Heart of the Hamptons, director of Future Stars Baseball Camp and division director and board member for Southampton Little League, district officials said .
Dr. Epley holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Elmira College, where he was a member of the men's basketball team. He earned his master's degree in early childhood education from Dowling College and holds a TESOL certification from Molloy College and a building and district leadership certificate from the College of St. Joseph. He received his PhD from American International College.
