LONG ISLAND, NY — Wednesday's deluge has eased across Long Island, with a drizzle lingering on the East End Thursday morning — but rain may be in store for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Bill Goodman, a meteorologist with the NWS office in Upton, said the rest of Thursday and Friday is expected to be dry across Long Island.
Saturday morning brings the chance of rain, with a higher chance of wet skies in Nassau County and western Suffolk and less rain in the East End, he said. another inch of rain is expected Saturday afternoon and into Sunday night and morning.
The rain is expected to taper off Sunday morning, he said.
Temperatures on Thursday and Friday are expected to range from the high to upper 40s in the East End and the low 50s for the rest of Long Island. On Saturday, cooler temperatures will move in, with highs in the upper 40s across the island, before climbing into the lower 50s across Long Island Sunday, Goodman said.
