SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — An 81-year-old man with Alzheimer's disease who was reported missing from a North Sea home on Wednesday has been found dead, police said.
According to Southampton Police, a report came in Tuesday afternoon of a person behind a private residence located in North Sea, near the home of 81-year-old James Thomas Lee.
Officers and Southampton Police Department detectives responded and found Lee, who was pronounced dead, police said.
While no foul play is suspected, the Suffolk County Coroner's Office has responded and will continue to investigate.
“Southampton Police would like to express their gratitude to all agencies, the public and the family who assisted in the search for Mr Lee. Our deepest condolences to Mr Lee's family, friends and loved ones,” it said. the police.
According to police, Lee, who goes by the name Robert, was reported missing from a home on North Sea Road after his family noticed the door was open and the stove was on. last seen last Tuesday afternoon.
Southampton Police conducted the search for Lee with assistance from the New York State Police, Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, Quogue Village Police Department, Southampton Fire Department and Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance.
