SHINNECOCK HILLS, N.Y. — An East Quogue man was arrested after a Sunday night car crash in Shinnecock Hills that was found to be intoxicated and in possession of cocaine, police said.
According to Southampton Police, the crash happened around 9:00 PM at Montauk Highway and Sugar Loaf Road in Shinnecock Hills. Upon arrival, officers found a 2012 Volvo that had gone off the road and then rolled over, police said.
The driver, Brendan C. Hennessey, 31, was not injured in the crash, but an investigation revealed he was intoxicated, police said.
Hennessey was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police headquarters for processing. was charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, and lane departure without safety, a misdemeanor, police said.
Additionally, Hennessey was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, police said.
He was remanded in custody overnight to appear in Southampton Crown Court in the morning, police said.
