SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — A Texas man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash in Southampton Thursday night, police said.
According to Southampton police, the one-car accident happened at approximately 8:56 p.m. at Montauk Highway and West Gate Road. Jonathan Micah Joplin, 39, of Cedar Hill, TX, ran off the road and fell about 50 feet into a wooded area, police said.
No injuries were reported, police said.
Joplin was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor and several traffic violations, police said. He was taken to Southampton police headquarters, where he was processed and held for a morning report, police said.
