MATTITUCK, NY —A Cutchogue man was arrested after he drove while intoxicated, crashed into a utility pole and fled the scene, police said.
According to Southold Town Police, the incident happened Monday at 1:43 a.m. on Legion Avenue in Mattituck.
An officer followed a fluid leak from the vehicle on Route 25 and found Victor Pirir Lopez, 52, standing outside the vehicle, which had significant front-end damage, police said.
Pirir Lopez admitted to driving the vehicle, police said.
Pirir Lopez was found drunk. arrested, charged with DWI, first offense. Leaving the scene of a collision with property damage; and aggravated DWI: per se, not before, police said. He was taken to Southold police headquarters for processing, police said.
