SAUG HARBOR, N.Y. — A Southampton man was arrested after crashing into a sign and fire hydrant in Sag Harbor while impaired by drugs, police said.
According to Southampton Police, the incident took place on New Year's Eve at approximately 9:50am. on Noyac Street near Sag Harbor Court. Responding officers found a 2019 Kia Sportage had gone off the road, striking the license plate and hydrant. After further investigation, the driver, Peter Ethier, 35, was found to be driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.
Ethier was arrested and taken to the city's Southampton police headquarters, where he was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, two previous convictions. and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said.
