LONG ISLAND, NY — Sunday's sweet, sunny skies over Long Island were short-lived, with the week ahead slated to be wet.
According to James Connolly at the National Weather Service office in Upton, Monday's temperatures will be the warmest of the week, in the mid-50s, with light, spotty showers expected, especially in Nassau County.
Tuesday will bring periods of heavy rain expected to last through Wednesday night, totaling about 2.15 inches, with more possible depending on the low system's track, he said.
Periods of rain are also forecast for Thursday, he said.
East winds are expected to develop Wednesday at about 15 to 20 mph, with gusts of about 30 to 40 mph possible, Connolly said.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 40s Tuesday through Wednesday and into the upper 30s Tuesday and Wednesday, making for a “cold and raw” week ahead, Connolly said.
