LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Island is bracing for another blast of snow on Friday.
According to Brian Ciemnecki, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service's Upton office, snow is expected to begin falling on Long Island in the early morning hours Friday, continuing throughout the day and into Friday night.
Accumulation is expected to be between 2 and 3 inches on Long Island, he said.
Temperatures are expected to dip into the low 30s on Friday, he added.
“The difference with this system and the last one is that we had a little warmer air in the upper atmosphere that warmed things up and turned into rain with the last storm. We're not expecting that this time — we're expecting a snow event,” Ciemnecki said.
Neither wind nor flooding should be a problem this time, he added.
The weekend is expected to be dry, with temperatures on Saturday in the mid-20s and slightly higher on Sunday in the mid-30s. Overnight temperatures Friday, Saturday and Sunday night are expected to drop into the teens, he said.
Next week will bring warmer temperatures, starting in the mid to upper 30s on Monday and then into the mid 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday, Ciemnecki said.
