With Pawling and Pierson-Bridgheampton scoreless going into the second overtime of the Southeast Regional Final field hockey game, the Lady Whalers scored to pick up the win Saturday afternoon at White Plains High School.
The final was 1-0, thanks to a goal by Kathryn Mathers, assisted by Casey Gilbride.
The Pierson-Bridgehampton team will now move on to the state semifinals.
This is the team's second win in just three days. On Wednesday, they captured the Long Island Class C championship with a 3-2 win over the Carle Place Lady Frogs.
The girls will get a big welcome home on Saturday night. Those who wish can join in the celebration of their victory by heading to Main Street at approximately 7 p.m.
