SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — Southampton Middle School students recently participated in the National African American Reading Movement by bringing books to share with elementary school children.
Members of Southampton High School's Black Girl Magic Club and students from Southampton Intermediate School participated in the National African American Read-In Movement as part of Black History Month by reading to area elementary school students on Feb. 28, the district said.
All of the books selected by participating students were written or illustrated by an African American.
“This was a great way to connect our students with our middle and high school students and celebrate this important month,” said Southampton Elementary School Principal Jaime Bottcher.
