SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — The owner of a Hamptons restaurant set fire to a table that was once a favorite of Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein.
Zac Erdem, who owns 75 Main in Southampton, set fire to the table once envisioned by Epstein and Weinstein. Patrons and wait staff joined him and told him, “Burn, baby burn,” as he lit the table.
“Our tables will now be free of the rot caused by these sex offenders who misused their money and power,” Erdem said. “They have been regulars at my store for years. On behalf of my patrons and staff, by setting fire to the table, we will release the harm that has been done to countless girls and women.”
The table was broken apart by an ax and sledgehammer and then set on fire by 75 Main staff as local residents watched, according to a release. Customers toasted with champagne at the fire. A new table was placed in its place, which will serve the public for the next decade.
Federal prosecutors have accused billionaire stockbroker Epstein of sexually abusing dozens of girls at his Upper East Side mansion and elsewhere in a years-long sex-trafficking conspiracy. Epstein was found dead at the Metropolitan Correctional Center while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.
