RIVERSIDE, N.Y. — A man was arrested Saturday after a gun was found in a Riverside home a few months earlier, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, the gun was found at a home on Pebble Way in Riverside in October. A homeowner said he had found the gun on his property and knew who it belonged to, police said.
Police seized the gun and were investigating, authorities said.
On Saturday, with the assistance of the Southampton Police Department's Community Response Unit, the gun's owner, Romel E. Richards, 21, of Riverside but no known address, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession. for a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, police said.
He was processed at Southampton police headquarters, held overnight for arraignment in the morning and taken to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, police said.
