HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A gray seal will find its way home tomorrow.
According to the New York Marine Rescue Center, the release of the seal will take place Wednesday at Tiana Beach in Hampton Bays at 5:30 p.m.
The male gray seal pup, named Billy Goat, was first spotted in Glen Cove and was “lethargic, malnourished and dehydrated,” the NYMRC said.
NYMRC staff decided to respond to better assess the seal's behavior and chose to rehome him for rehabilitation.
“After approximately seven weeks of rehab, Billy Gaat has returned to good health and has been cleared for release,” the NYMRC said. “We hope to 'sea' you there as this gray seal pup comes home!”
A NYMRC benefit, the “Oceans of Hope” gala, is coming up soon on May 3rd. For more information and tickets, click here or call 631-369-9840.
