Three outstanding high school athletes, women's basketball points and shooting
guard Gemma Mendola from Babylon High School and women's softball players — both
from Lindenhurst High School — Keelynn Kelly and Kaylin McDonald signed letters
of intent to attend Suffolk County Community College next fall. “Signing a letter of intent,” Suffolk County Community College Athletics explained
Principal Neftali Collazo, “these student athletes are committed to Suffolk for the
academic year, just as Suffolk commits to these outstanding young ladies. We
they are dedicated to both their academic and athletic success and are proud to be called Sharks!”
Gemma Mendola is an all-league point and shooting guard who plans to attend Suffolk
Emergency Medicine Technician Program. Mendola said she plans to “excel in both
off the field.”
Lindenhurst softball player Keelynn Kelly, 2019 League II Rookie of the Year and
A 2021 All Division, All County and All State 4th Team player, she said she is excited to play college softball. Kelly said she plans to
majored in criminal justice and is looking forward to excelling academically as well
and on the field.
Kaylin McDonald of Lindehurst High School, a center, middle and utility
The player plans to major in liberal arts and general studies at Suffolk and said she
she is excited to continue playing softball and begin her future. “I would love to keep
4.0 GPA and win an athletics award,” McDonald said.
