Police said Eleazer, from Southampton, was crossing the road when he was hit. The road was closed for two hours for the investigation, police said, and the vehicle was impounded for a security check.
Eleazer was a member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation, sources said.
According to Southampton Police. Michael Joyce, the accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. at County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Lane when a female driver, 26, driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz heading westbound struck Eleazer, a pedestrian in the roadway, said the police.
He was taken to Southampton Hospital by Southampton Ambulance and pronounced dead, Joyce said.
No charges were filed in the accident, Joyce said.
The investigation is ongoing.
