The funeral home provided the following obituary, which has been edited for style.
Former Southampton Village employee George Allison Andrews died peacefully Nov. 11 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. It was 88.
Andrews was born in Chicago, IL on June 15, 1925. He served in the Air Force and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with his favorite destination being Paris, France. He had an adventurous spirit and a quick wit with a passion for painting.
Earlier in his life, Andrews served as President of Blue Cross Blue Shield, leaving to settle in the place of his dreams – Water Mill. He served as Southampton Village Clerk from 1981 to 1989.
Andrews also lived in Missouri, North Carolina and Florida. In Florida he found the love of his life, Frances. Until his recent death, the two were inseparable. His wife survives and resides at Cedar Lodge Nursing Home in Center Moriches.
He had two sisters, Judith Arnold (dec) and Susan Galloway and two brothers, John (dec) and Jerry (dec) Andrews. Having no children of his own, Andrews had two nephews, John Arnold and John Galloway, and five nieces, Joni Bratney, Cathy Baker, Paula Dondale, Cora Duncan and Kelley Arnold. There are also countless people in the Watermill area who would count George and Fran as part of their families as well.
