CLINTON, CT — The community is coming together to support a Clinton family who lost their home in a devastating fire last week.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has generated $21,006 of a $20,000 goal in 163 donations as of Tuesday morning.
The GoFundMe was started by Lisa Earley on behalf of Charles Elrick.
He wrote that the family was “blindsided by the loss of their family home to fire.”
Elric and his family have been left without a place to live and the damage has spread to the entire house.
“Chuck and the Elricks are longtime residents of Clinton Township and are known as a friendly face to everyone!” Early wrote. “Chuck recently retired from The Hopkins School, where for 39 years he was a community stalwart and the driving force behind aquatics programs. He guided, mentored and acted as a positive influence for thousands of young adults who helped shape their lives. Chuck lives in Clinton with his wife Cheryl and son Brendan; luckily everyone was unharmed during this tragedy.
“The Elricks are currently staying with their family while they try to recover from this horrific event. Any money donated will help provide shelter, clothing and daily necessities for the next few days.”
