WATER MILL, NY — Firefighters responded to the scene of a fire in Water Mill Friday afternoon, officials said.
According to Chris Brenner, information officer for the Southampton Fire Department, a work structure fire was reported at a residence on Head of Pond Road at 2:03 p.m.
The first unit arrived on the scene in four minutes and found smoke coming from the back of the house, as well as the attic, Brenner said. A working fire was broadcast and units went “straight to work,” he said. “Crews quickly found the fire and extinguished it and checked for an extension.”
