EAST QUOGUE, N.Y. — Even the youngest children can give back in a big way during the holiday season.
East Quogue Elementary School kindergarten students recently learned how to give, not only to members of their community, but also to their animal friends outside, the district said.
To begin, Anne Culhane's class first read Night Tree by Eve Bunting about the tradition of a family
of decorating a tree in the forest for animals, the district said.
Using pipe cleaners, Cheerios and fruit, the students then set out on their own quest to create edible decorations and hang them for the birds and other animals that might find them this holiday season during the cold days and nights.
