GREENPORT, NY — A much-loved Greenport Village mainstay closed its doors Sunday.
According to a Facebook post, Sunday marked the last day for the popular D'latte Cafe & Bakery on Main Street.
“Dear Friends, It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closing of our Greenport cafe at 218 Main Street after 20 wonderful years. Our last day will be Sunday, February 4, 2024,” the message read. “We want to take this moment to thank all of you who have supported us on this journey, making it full of love and laughter. We are truly grateful for the memories we have made here and will always cherish them. Although this is goodbye for Now , we're excited to start the next chapter for D'latte, which our father Frank always wanted. Stay tuned on social media for more updates.”
Frank Purita died in 2019, leaving broken hearts.
“Thank you for your faith and support over the years. We could not have come this far without you,” the D'latte team and the Purita family wrote.
On Sunday, another post offered a heartfelt goodbye: “We know we'll see you all in the next chapter. Thank you to all the wonderful families whose children we've watched grow and to all the customers who have seen us change and grow and made us laugh… We love this community so much and we hope you all know how hard goodbye is for us, so we'll say, “See you soon”.
