OLD SAYBROOK, CT — The community is coming together to support an Old Saybrook family devastated by a fire last week.
Sondra Lintelmann-Dellaripa wrote in a GoFundMe appeal that her brother's house, which was also “our grandparents' ancestral home,” was destroyed in a fire Saturday.
“All gone,” he wrote. “He and Molly came out with their Rottweiler Tank and the clothes on their backs. Eric didn't even have shoes.
“Thank God they are safe.”
He said the fire was “devastating”. Her brother has two teenagers who were not home at the time.
“They have lost everything. Clothing, electronics, household items. All his business files, tools and equipment. Eric is self-employed as a painting contractor. Everything is gone.
“All his family photos and videos.”
They are currently staying with their family.
Lintelmann-Dellaripa wrote that “family, friends and the community have come to help…”
The fundraiser has generated $30,585 from 302 donations, surpassing its $10,000 goal.
