EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. — East Hampton Town will soon begin the process of finding new childcare providers for the Montauk Playhouse, officials said Friday.
After over a decade of service to the Montauk community, the Suffolk Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. notified the city of its decision to discontinue child care services at the Montauk Playhouse, effective May 3, 2024, the city said.
In response, the city will begin a request for proposal process starting Feb. 1 to identify new operators who can “continuously” take over child care services at the Montauk Playhouse, the city said.
The EOC has expressed its commitment to support a smooth transition for the selected operator.
“The City of East Hampton is grateful for EOC's long-standing service to the community and is committed to ensuring that hard-working families continue to have access to quality
childcare options in Montauk,” said East Hampton Town Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez.
