The following obituary was posted on behalf of the Kenna family.
Eileen (Gibbons) Kenna of Southampton died last week at Stony Brook University Hospital. He was 77 years old.
He was born on December 27, 1935 in Corona, Queens and moved to Southampton in 1998.
Eileen was an active member of the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton Village as an outreach volunteer and also worked part-time in the parish office.
He was a 1954 graduate of St. Agnes at College Point and later received a secretarial certificate from the Katherine Gibbs School.
She married John F. Kenna in 1961 and they lived in Astoria, Queens until John's death in 1998.
Eileen was the mother of Margaret and Robert Skibbens of Allentown, Pa., Frank and Stacey Kenna of Forest Hills, and Kara and David Reich-Hale of Babylon.
She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Joseph and Erin Skibbens, Connor and Jordan Kenna, and Donovan and Amelia Reich-Hale;
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Basilica of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish, Rogers Memorial Library or the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Survivors.
