BRIDGEHAMPTON, N.Y. — Bridgehampton students hit home with their efforts to collect blood during two drives held this year.
Bridgehampton Union Free School District's National Senior and Junior Honor Societies won “Best High School” for the New York Blood Center's small division category, the district said.
The students, along with National Junior and Senior Honor Society adviser Marie Bouzos-Reilly, collected more than 50 pints of blood between two blood drives during the school year in October and April, the district said.
The New York Blood Center contest was sponsored by the NY Yankees, who invited students to a June 5 game where they were honored for their dedication.
School chaplain Kimberly Villa also received a $500 grant from the New York Blood Center for her efforts to collect more than 50 donations and for demonstrating “leadership, volunteerism and community service in planning and organizing the high school blood drive.” the district said.
