After securing the Suffolk County Class C Championship against the Southampton Mariners, the Bridgehampton/Pearson field hockey team secured the Long Island Championship and earned their way into the state playoff tournament.
Now the Lady Whalers have advanced to the semifinals after a double overtime win against Pawling. Bridgehampton/Pierson will now face Whitney Point in the semifinal contest Saturday at 1:30 at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
If the Lady Whalers get past Whitney Point, they will advance to the state championship game on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Bridgehampton/Pierson hasn't reached the finals since 2010, when they lost 1-0 in overtime to Cazenovia, according to a recent Newsday article.
Some of the players on that 2010 team are now seniors, playing in the final games of their high school careers.
